Time Management

Doing the important work before the urgent work eats the day.

What it is

Time management is planning and prioritizing so the most important work gets done on time.

Why it matters at work

Missed deadlines cost trust. Managing time well lowers stress and makes you someone other people can count on.

In the real world

I balance school, repair jobs, a nonprofit's social media, and software projects. The Georgia Options social media runs on a content calendar: three to four posts a week, drafted ahead of time and approved before anything goes live.

Planning the week in advance is the only way that schedule works alongside everything else.

My reflection

Strengths

  • Working from a calendar, not memory
  • Batching similar tasks together

Growth goals

  • Estimate how long tasks really take
  • Protect set time for schoolwork
  • Finish current projects before starting new ones
